East Los Angeles, one of the country’s most iconic Mexican communities as this area has been part of popular culture for years and has pioneered Cholo culture. East L.A. was one of the first communities to have Hispanic gangs while currently consisting of over 30 gangs, if not more.

Northeast Philadelphia (Kensington), in a section of North Philly known as the Low Numbers with the Kensington area being one of the most known communities is the other half of North Philly, as Northeast Philadelphia was one of the first major Puerto Rican communities in the country.

South Bronx, just north of Manhattan is a section of New York City that had the biggest reputation in the country during the 1980s as a former European immigrant changed by the 1950s as Puerto Ricans, followed by Dominicans, move into the area.

Little Village, with the heart of this West Side Chicago being centered around 26th Street the Little Village is one of the city’s most popular communities and maybe the largest Mexican neighborhood of the Midwest as Hispanics have been in the area since the 1970s.

Humboldt Park, located on the West Side is the mecca of Chicago’s Puerto Rican population and the motherland of the national gang of Latin Kings, as well Maniac Latin Disciples who are amongst a number of others.

Pilsen, the mecca of Chicago’s Mexican population, at least since the 1950s, as well a former hotbed of some of Chicago’s most notorious Hispanic gangs.

Florence, the East Side of South Central Los Angeles has a few well reputable Hispanic ‘hoods of the area, like South Los or the original Clanton neighborhood, but the most known of the area is Florencia 13 (F13) as the Hispanic population of South Central has been constantly growing and expanding.

West Side San Antonio, an area that has the majority of the city’s housing projects has had a reputation of gangs and street activity since the 1950s, while being Texas’ most notorious Hispanic community.

North Side Denver, while Hispanics dominate multiple sections of Denver like the West Side, the North Side is one of the city’s oldest Latino communities despite the arrival of new residents as the community is slowly losing its identity.

Southwest Detroit, a very underrated Latino ‘hood as Mexicans have made their way into this large Michigan city since the early 1900s, first beginning with the community of Mexicantown and later expanding from West Warren to Fort Street.

Mission District, even though there are numerous of Hispanic and Latino areas of the Bay Area San Francisco’s Mission District is the oldest and the most traditional Latino neighborhood of the Bay Area, despite gentrification changing the area drastically.

Logan Heights, following a few communities in Los Angeles, this neighborhood is one of the most historic regions of Southern California while being located in the heart of San Diego, despite gentrification taken the community slowly away from the people.

South Side Oklahoma City, a very large community that is the true definition of a neighborhood being its on community while being after years and years of ups and downs before the city’s Hispanic population officially established themselves as a true community.

Corona/Jackson Heights, these two adjacent neighborhoods of Queens has seen many different eras in time, first European immigrants, followed an influx of successful African-American families, but between the years of the 1970s and 1990s multiple Latino nationalities have claimed this area as their home.

North Side Fort Worth, today the Mexican community of the city known as Funky Town is on the North Side, especially between Haltom City and River Oaks with areas like Diamond Hill or Riverside, even though parts were once of the black community.

South Side Milwaukee, one of the country’s most unknown Latino ‘hoods as Puerto Ricans make up and account for a large chunk of the city’s South Side.

East Orlando, Florida’s largest Puerto Rican community is often overshadowed by other urban areas of the city, like West Orlando, or the numerous attractions in the city as this neighborhood has been around since the 1970s.

East Side Las Vegas, hidden by the casinos the East Side, which is northeast of the famous Las Vegas Boulevard strip, has its share of historic Las Vegas gangs.

Honorable mentions include Story and King Road of San Jose, Cicero of the Chicagoland, Clark Fulton of Cleveland, Gage Park of Chicago’s South Side, South Minneapolis, Buffalo’s West Side, South Side of Hartford and Fair Haven in New Haven, Connecticut.

In cities where the Hispanic population dominates the demographics and statistics it can be truly hard to consider the most notorious or reputable ‘hood, especially with Phoenix, Albuquerque, or the many cities in Texas, despite being able to locate in other primarily Hispanic cities, as Latinos are in just about every community and on every side of town.
