The Hoods of Tampa Bay
Check out the hoods and streets of the Tampa Bay region within the cities of Tampa, St. Pete, Bradenton, Clearwater, Lakeland, Sarasota, and much more.
The Tampa hoods of Hillsborough County include TC standing for Town and Country, Carver City and the once Trill Fam located off of Lois Avenue, and legendary West Tampa, which is made up of the 4 Way Projects, West Main Street, the Boulevard Homes, Tampa Heights, Robles Park, Tampa Park, and the old and infamous Central Park projects.
In places like East Tampa and North Tampa there are the old College Hills and Ponce de Leon projects, 15th Dirty Game along 15th Street, Jackson Heights, 34 Manche, Highland Pines, Grant Park, Nuccio, Sulphur Springs and the once Drak Drak and Cypha Life, CBG or Cross Busch, 15th Dumbway, Cross Fletcher, along with Palm River, Progress Village, and 78 CMC.
The St Pete hood is made up of small sections south of Interstate 175, the Midtown or South Side section of St. Petersburg. What was once a small area would later get bigger throughout the years with different St Pete hoods of Childs Park or Tre 4, Jordan Park, Bethel Heights apartments, 8 Hype or Harbordale, Lakewood 54th Ave, are just the few that are well known and shown on the map of the St Pete hoods in Pinellas County.
Outside of the St Pete hood, Pinellas County has small sections in the Largo and Clearwater cities. Hoods like Greenwood, one of the oldest black communities of Pinellas County, that started between Cleveland and Court streets, and is now center around Martin Luther King Avenue and Palmetto Street.
The hoods Clearwater are North Greenwood, in which received its claim to fame for the “Da Hood Gone Wild” DVD in the Tampa Bay area. Other areas is the High Point section based around 58th Street North, Roosevelt Blvd and the Ridgecrest area around 119th Street North and Ulmerton Road, one of the few Largo hoods.
In Manatee County, there is the Palmetto area, also known as Palmghetto and Uptown, and the Bradenton area being based around 9th Avenue or Martin Luther King Jr. Further south of Manatee County are the hoods of Sarasota.
Sarasota hoods consists of DLB-Leon, Central Boys, Janie Poe Drive/Project Lane, Cohen Way, Chico Town/Gillepsie Park, Da States/Newtown Estates, Mango, the Old Projects, and other blocks around the Newtown section and along Martin Luther King Way.
